Looking Out/Looking In

Sunday is here again. ‘Ma is in her kerchief, and I am in my cap. ‘ Oh, wait, it’s not quiet yet. Fall is progressing nicely. I walked in the rain yesterday and liked it. I have found I dry out. Everything is the same everything is different.

The land of the free and the home of the brave has what President Roosevelt called, ‘nothing to fear but fear itself.’ Fear either energizes or paralyzes.

When we look at our fellow travelers, we see through our prism. We make suppositions without basis in fact or empirical data, pigeonholing people we do. Leaders are notorious in the art of pigeonholing. Elections are lost due to pigeonholing. Assuming someone will vote a certain way due to their education or craft. Many are self-educated as was President Lincoln. Many feel forgotten because they have been forgotten.

We are complex. All Hispanics do not think alike. African Americans are not all looking for the same things. We look out of our windows of the soul we rarely take the time to look in…

All is not lost. Hope endures. The structure to create a safe country for all people is still in place. Democracy is here…if we can keep it. Each of us is called to work. There is no vacation from Democracy. ‘Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning.’
