Palm Sunday And Then Easter

Did you ever feel that life was passing you by? Today is MJ’s and my 43rd anniversary. It is spring. New Year’s Day is over as well as Valentines Day and MJ’s birthday, also on the 24th of February, and Palm Sunday is this Sunday. You are aware of what comes affair Palm Sunday…Easter Sunday. Then it is Jonathon’s 37th birthday on April 12th…and he is our youngest… We travel to Destin, Florida in May…and soon thereafter it will be the 4th of July…which is slightly over the half way mark for 2021. Do you recall when you used to wish your life away? This is usually not a malady of the old.

‘Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.’ John 12:13. KJV

‘And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross! Philippians 2:8

‘They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. Luke 24: 2-3

‘As he ws drawing near already on the way down the Mount of Olives – the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen. Luke 19:37

Easter is special. I recall attending an Easter Sunrise Service many years ago. During that Service the power and presence of Easter was impressed on me. Since that time until now…I anticipate Easter and the relevance that it has to our christian experience. It was not the government of Christ’s day that sent him to the cross..but those whom he came to minister too. ‘Then said Pilate to the chief priests and the crowds, ‘I find no grounds for charges in the case of this man.’ Luke 23:4 NASB

Newness of life and a renewed purpose for our walk down the path back to Jerusalem is upon us. I hope to embrace the gift of fellowship and collegiality and unity of purpose with my brothers and sisters of my human family…

  3. I was down the town today and as I passed the church, the choir was practising for the Easter service. Still, a big thing here in st Andrews since there are many students at the university and many studying music, so the churches are never short of voices in their choirs. As a child, Easter was always a big celebration, we all dressed in our Sunday best for the occasion and the church would be decked out in flowers. Whether you are a believer or not, such institutions shaped our life’s and we have lost something with their passing.
