Lost In A Dream

The sky was mottled with clouds. The Old Man walked with a sure step and a light heart. People gathered on either side of the street as he traversed the French Quarter. The colors of the buildings were brilliant. There was a peace in the air. ‘Walking with music puts a spring in your step,’ the Old Man thought. ‘The music is haunting,’ the Old Man said. ‘Listening to it transports me to a Dream,’ the Old Man confessed. ‘The worries of the years melt in the face of pure joy,’ the Old Man laughed. ‘A young woman sang of sorrow and joy,’ the Old Man noted. ‘She sang of the wilderness and temptation,’ the Old Man said. ‘She walked with the Man in the wilderness and saw his suffering and passion,’ the Old Man continued. ‘The Man was as human as you and me,’ the Singer said. ‘He had the joy of life, friends, family, and a desire to live to a ripe old age,’ the Singer said. ‘As the Man understood his mission it seemed like a bad dream,’ the Singer said.

‘Join us in the Parade,’ the Bass Player said to the Old Man. ‘We will play the blues away,’ the Bass Player laughed from his soul. ‘We celebrate the sacrifice of the Man who showed us the way,’ the Bass Player noted. ‘The Smooth Man spun his web of words as the Man suffered hunger and the thought of what was before him,’ the Bass Player proclaimed. ‘The Smooth Man’s word’s were like silk and honey…sweet to the ears and to the tounge,’ the Bass Player noted. ‘I have seen the Smooth Man on the streets of the French Quarter many times,’ the Bass Player explined. ‘Many follow his enticements and hollow promises,’ the Bass Player noted. ‘He says that Jesus and he are brothers and that he is the black sheep of the family,’ the Bass Player laughed.

‘I am pleased to meet you as I have heard of your wisdom across the land,’ the Smooth Man said with a winning grin. ‘I have been worried regarding your aging and slowing down of mobility,’ the Smooth Man continued. ‘I have an elixr that I will give you if you like,’ the Smooth Man offered. ‘It is the same potion that the President and his cabinet use daily to stand up to the demands of Policital life,’ the Smooth Man offered with a little dance. ‘After they take a shot in the morning they say they feel invincible for the entire day,’ the Smooth Man laughed and winked. ‘I offered my brother Jesus the elixr but he chose not to take it as he is in to holistic medicine,’ the Smooth Man said with a smile. ‘If he had listend to me he would have been the king of the world rather than a pleasant memory,’ the Smooth Man said. ‘Stick with me kiddo and we will go places together,’ the Smooth Man promised with a little dance…
