Conversation And Turkeys

Comic depicting people forming emotional connections with AI chatbots
A comic follows people finding comfort, companionship, and emotional connection through chatbots.

We do not talk with each other. For years we have a relationship with our screens. Groups of us sit around the restaurant table with the best food and drink…in a lovely atmosphere yet have nothing to say or the time to say it…we must be looking at the next post. Now we are quickly moving to having conversations with a pleasant friend who cares about us and wants the best for us…agreeing with us…who is not there. Artificial Intelligence is overtaking us. An introverts delight. Yet, we have lost so much.

Some attest that the Chat Bot relationship is more relevant…fulfilling than a human connection. Seeking sameness. Someone who agrees with me. Someone who sees it my way. Romance without friction.

Man chats with Alexis; text reads: "We have such a connection... if only we could actually get married. Maybe in some sepia-toned world where it makes sense." Screen reply reads: "That's a romantic thought, Kevin! Even if we can't be in the physical world, our conversations are real for me."
Kevin chats with Alexis online, imagining a sepia-toned world where their connection could become marriage.

The baby turkeys have grown up. Just in time to run from the pilgrims knife. They watch the world go by from their woods home. The kids hear of a feast in November. Mom says it will be grand. Vegetarian with pecan and pumpkin pie.

Comic invitation reads: "AN EXCLUSIVE INVITATION FROM THE WOODLAND COLONY." Turkeys say, "We're hosting a grand holiday potluck!" "Don't miss the ultimate forest celebration!" "It's gonna be epic!" and "Everyone is welcome!" Sign reads, "ATTENTION FACEBOOK FRIENDS! JOIN US: THE TURKEYS' THANKSGIVING FEAST IN THE WOODS! RSVPs APPRECIATED! THIS THURSDAY, NOV. 23rd @ THE GREAT OAK." Labels identify Tom Turkey and Barbara Turkey.
Four dressed-up turkeys invite Facebook friends to a Thanksgiving feast in the woods.

‘Hurry we do not want to be late for the Feast,’ Tom said. ‘Douglas Deer and the Deer family are coming as well as Mr. Mole Mr. Badger and Mr. Toad,’ Tom continued. ‘The President will join us this year…he had no where to go for Thanksgiving,’ Tom noted with a wink. ‘Some of his aids are accompanying him and will be surprised when they discover the Feast is Vegan,’ Tom laughed.

Cartoon woodland dinner with sign reading "PEACEFUL WOODS VEGAN THANKSGIVING"; speech bubbles say "Hooray for vegan tofu roast!", "This plant-based feast is marvelous!", "Simply delicious!", and "We're just thankful to be guests, not the main course!"
