Comic panel: “It’s different... The old oak is gone, and the ground feels softer.” “Yes, the logging road carved a path, and the maples grew faster.” “The silence has echoes now.” “WHISPERS—” “New undergrowth where the canopy opened up.” “A small creek channel have rerouted slightly.” “CRACKLE” “New undergrowth where the trail revere opened up.”

‘Things are different somehow,’ Chet said. ‘Yesterday I walked in the Woods and the shelter was on the left side of the road…today it is on the right,’ Chet continued. ‘The deer family came up to me and asked if I knew what was going on, they had seen the Sun rise in the west and set in the east,’ Chet laughed. ‘Also, money seems changed…there is a picture of Donald Trump on the $20 bill,’ Chet said with some alarm. ‘The newscaster on television last night reported that we are winning our war with Great Britain,’ Chet spoke in a halting manner. ‘The reporter went on to say that Putin would be in his office at the White House until Christmas Day where he then was taking a two month vacation in Florida,’ Chet informed. ‘What happened over night…did we fall into a Worm Hole,’ Chet said with feeling.

A startled old man wakes in an unfamiliar bedroom filled with clocks and strange architecture.

‘I am going next door to see the Adams Family…they have their house decorated for Halloween,’ Neva J said. ‘I tell you it makes me think of Christmas,’ Neva J laughed. ‘Morticia has remodeled her basement and wants me to take a look,’ Neva J winked. ‘I recall last year when she was very proud of her sunken basement,’ Neva J laughed.

A cracked, unsettling figure stands alone beneath fluorescent lights in a grimy basement.

‘Come in Neva J I have prepared some Halloween Treats,’ M said. ‘We will enjoy them in the remodeled basement,’ M continued. ‘It seems there is more room since we did the changes,’ M laughed. ‘Pugsley went down there yesterday and I have not seen him since,’ M smiled. ‘Please follow me down the Sunken Staircase,’ M said with a sinister smile. ‘This is the basement annex…a portal to other dimensions…a true conversation piece,’ M laughed. ‘When I tire of the mendacity of life I opt for a change in reality’s,’ M danced a little dance. ‘We have lost a few people in the sunken basement liminal space…it is unfortunate,’ M mused.

Chett navigates a seemingly endless staircase beneath the Addams family home.

‘How did we get to this new reality we are currently in,’ Chet said as he walked into the liminal space. ‘I have the distinct feeling I have not been this way before,’ Chet said with mirth. ‘I ran into Pugsley but he was like a statue,’ Chet said. ‘My goodness where to these stairs go…is the basement even deeper than we understood…it seems endless,’Chets little voice said…
