Special Days

This is the time of year when good things happen. Thanksgiving and Christmas are watching us from around the corner. A time for laughter. A time to be with old friends and new ones. A time to see the trees in the forest. We wonder what is coming. There have been several acts on stage yet no finale. The quiet among us seek no fortune or fame…we seek peace and reflection. Watching and waiting are good things. Influencers are not required. Our hearts influence us.

‘The leaves are falling quickly now,’ the Old Man said. ‘Change is coming,’ OM continued. ‘Much will be the same…yet different,’ OM mused. ‘Regular days are fun days,’ OM said with a grin. ‘At times it is hard to rev the engine high enough to meet the hill of special days,’ OM noted. ‘Special Days fall under the burden of their own expectations,’ OM commented. ‘There are such lofty ideas surrounding Special Days that the realization does not meet the reality,’ OM noted. ‘The regular day is full of possibilities with no preconceptions,’ OM laughed. ‘A bird may sing you a song…Mr. Beaver could come by for a chat…the Bullfrog Quartet will sing a song of hope,’ OM said with joy. ‘Sometimes life changing news comes out of the fog from around the corner,’ OM danced an Irish Jig. ‘Quiet reflection as the leaves fall reveal mysteries,’ the Old Man whispered.

The people ran to and fro. They were nervous to complete their many tasks in preparation for the special days. There were places to go and people to see and deadlines to meet. Activity is action, they said. ‘How can we gain more than we have,’ the People asked. ‘Who do we see regarding our place on the Ladder of Success,’ the People wondered. ‘How do I complete enough retirement trips to know that I have a successful retirement,’ the People complained. ‘When I hurry up and wait…what am I waiting for,’ the People attested. ‘Will there be a trophy at the end of the race…recognition of many accomplishments,’ the People asked.
